We Have Arrived!
and eaten, showered, napped, though not necessarily in that order!
In the end Duke did not come with us - it was too hot! So we left him in the very loving hands of "Uncle Rob" and "Aunt Bina."
We are busy trying to orient ourselves, find supplies, and make a plan. Sadly, we forgot the digital camera, so we will try to be extra descriptive - and use your imaginations! So far our worst moment has been trying to get out of our building. We were scolded by the concierge for our stupidity. Who would have guessed you must turn
on the lights to make the door open?!!
Did you know that here in France they keyboard is different? I am quite the evil baby typist!
We cannot believe we are really here!
We took the bus into town, qnd promptly got lost. However we soon found our way, checked out our petite atelier - really on the 7th floor, with a narrow, winding staircase. Good exercise, but dizzying!
After unpacking, we walked to the Champs Elysee and along the Siene to the Tuilierres Gardens for lunch(Ham and Cheese Baguettes & coffee - rather nice) then back to the house for a nap and to get cleaned up.For dinner we took the metro to the Latin Quarter, got lost again, but did see the Jardin Des Plantes - sort of the botanical gardens, zoo, and natural history museum. Walking slowly through the quarter, we came upon a district Terry remembered from his first visit to Paris. It is like little Italy, and St. Marks place - every resturant has a price fix menu. We ate cheaply, but not as good as the East Village favorites we know and love.
Tomorrow we have plans for a tour of the city, perhaps on segways, then we must find coffee, and shaving cream!
Unlike the sweltering NYC we left behind, Paris is about 70 with light rain. Very comfortable and ideal for touring about.
Love and baguettes!
